  • The goal of this class is not to teach your dog a specific skill set, but instead to help them start learning to be calm in novel environments, and to offer you attention and focus out in the world and around distractions

Actions not descriptions please. "My dog will bark and quickly try to move away." is much more informative then "She goes crazy."
Actions not descriptions please. "My dog pulls on the leash and whines until she cannot see the other dog." or "My dog barks and tries to move away when he sees a bicycle closer than 20 feet" are great examples.

Behavior Adjustment Training

For 3 Sessions or For 6 Sessions

Behavior Adjustment Training, or BAT, is a humane and effective protocol to help your dog feel more calm, safe and confident around things that are highly exciting or super scary. This could include dogs, humans, scooters, skateboards, cars, you name it! I only take dog-dog or dog-object reactivity cases, for human reactivity I will refer cases out to a colleague.

If your dog struggles with other dogs out on walks or around the home, by using a combination of BAT and pattern games we can greatly increase their confidence and engagement, all while helping them understand that other dogs are not worth barking and lunging at!

If I don't have time, can you train my dog for me?

Possibly. We offer training walks for all friendly dogs, as well as dog-reactive dogs for an extra fee. Day training may be available on a case by case basis, please enquire for information.

My dog is barking and lunging, can you help?

We certainly can. Most of the time, when dogs are barking and lunging, they are displaying either distance increasing behaviors or distance decreasing behaviors. By helping your dog have a more calm and positive emotional response to the thing they are barking and lunging at, we can often improve issues like this! That said, barking and lunging could well be signs of more complex issues, usually rooted in trauma, and in these cases we may bring a behavior consultant on board, or refer clients off to someone with more experience in this area.
